Lori’s Personal Story

Welcome to my site. I open this space to everyone—friends and skeptics alike—with the hope that you will explore this content with an open mind. This blog was created for one reason: to provide the guidance and resources I desperately needed but could not find when I returned to the United States.

A Message of Global Compassion

It is important to state clearly that my story is not an indictment of the Middle East or the Islamic faith. In fact, it is quite the opposite. During my darkest hours in an Iranian POW camp, it was the courage and humanity of devout Muslims that facilitated my escape. I carry a profound and lasting respect for the Iranian people, both those living in their homeland and those who have made their lives here in the U.S.

Lori’s Personal Story: A Journey of Resilience

From Survival to Advocacy

My path has been defined by extraordinary challenges, but my goal is to show you that healing is possible. I share these experiences because I have walked in your shoes:

  • A Childhood of Adversity: My life began with severe physical abuse. At just six months old, I was removed from my biological parents with cigarette burns and signs of profound neglect.
  • Betrayal of Trust: At age 11, the safety of my home was shattered when I was molested by my adoptive brother.
  • Military Service & Sacrifice: By 18, I was a mother and a soldier in the U.S. Army. After a painful betrayal by my then-husband, I was forced into a period of hiding to protect my son.
  • The Iranian Captivity: At 27, I was taken to Iran by a man who held me captive. Following the events of 9/11, I was placed in a POW-style camp where I endured six weeks of torture and brutality.

I tell you this so you know that when I share resources on trauma, recovery, and survival, they come from a place of deep, personal understanding. You are not alone.
